Female protome that surmounts a plaque found in 1957 in the Sanctuary of the Nymphe. It is mended of fragments and restored. The figure has elongated face with big eyes. The lips are raised at the corners in a smile and the hair covers part of the forehead. All over the surface preserved are a few traces of white slip.

Terracotta female protomes are usually encountered as offerings in public sanctuaries dedicated primarily to female deities; as ritualistic objects in domestic shrines; as objects with apotropaic or decorative character in private households and as grave offerings in women's and children's burials. Their interpretation is uncertain since they are sometimes considered depictions of deities and other times of mere mortals.
